OK, to be honest it's hardly doubtful. But the gossip about Avex trying to get them back together made my heart tremble a little bit. And that's the reason why: this band was the reason I started listening to K-Pop; this band was the reason I started researching about Korea, I fell in love with this country and it's culture which led me to applying for exchange program and spending half  a year studying in Suwon.
This was the first Korean song I heard and actually I hated it! But after few times of listening to it I got really hooked up and dived into the world of K-Pop

I admired them for their talents, warm personalities and hard work.
For those who want to get to know them better here are all the members one by one:

MAX CHANGMIN - the youngest one in the band with great and powerful voice.

HERO JAEJOONG - I think his voice suits more rock songs, really unique tone of the voice (Taemins (Shinee) voice kinda reminds me of Jaejoongs actually).

MICKEY YOOCUN -  a bit of a crybaby haha :) Lovely personality and a bit softer voice.

U-KNOW YUNHO - the leader of the band and his main talent is dancing.

XIAH JUNSU - duck butt, dolphin, "cutie" (real fans know what I am talking about lol). He has great dancing skills and the most powerful voice.

They were in a company called SM Entertainment. They were under ridiculous contracts, working nonstop, sleeping just few hours and stuff. So later on 3 members (Yoochun, Junsu, Jaejoong) decided that they are tired of the "slavery", left the company (lawsuits etc. included) and formed their own band JYJ. The other two (Changmin and Yunho) stayed in the company and kept the name of the band.
I wish they reformed the band and had an album or two coming out. As much as fans would love to see them on the stage together it's highly unlikely.
I miss them singing live (really loved their harmonies), acting like dorks, and just their songs in general.

Here are few more videos, just for your entertainment folks:
hehe love them in those stupid animal costumes ^^ I even know the dance moves for this song lol

And one more of them singing live. I always admired their live performances. For those who doesn't know why Mickey is the crybaby this video answers the question :) So lovely! ^.^

All the credits go to their owners (pictures and stuff).  =^.^=

When I was in Lithuania it was nearly impossible to find any events related to Korea. I'm glad that in London they have it once in a while.
So if you are in London, looking for a night out full of Korean music, then you should be interested in this webpage:

pic taken from kpop team facebook page
those guys organise kpop nights in various clubs and information is posted on that site. They have facebook as well:

The other facebook page that might be handy:

you will find the kpop events posted on there as well. Usually when you go to one of those kpop nights you have to say Simon's guest list at the door and the entrance is gonna be a bit cheaper :) Good news for the girls - if you come before 11 p.m you gonna get the entrance for free :)  Ok so that was just brief information for the ones who might be interested in attending those events :)

Now a bit about my own experience. On 9th of April it was ''Kpop Wondergirls Special - Easter Bunnies Special'' event in Area club. I really wanted to go there, but as usual it was on Saturday and I had to work (hahaha the irony about my situation is that back in Lithuania we had nothing like this and now that I am in London I can't go to any of those nights because I am working every weekend :/). Well anyways on that night I was determined to get out of my job as early as possible and check out what those kpop nights are all about. I didn't have anyone to go with me as my friends are not really interested in that kind of music and I would have gone alone by myself, but gladly there was one guy who agreed to join me. Well actually he didn't have much of a choice lol because I was really persistant (pathetic I know hahahaha).

Anyhow, I managed to get out of my work at 12 and I was in a club at 1. At the entrance we all had to show our ID's, so don't forget to bring one, because otherwise you won't be let in. As usual in the clubs we got checked by the security (twice lol) and the security lady asked me if I ate anything before comming here, she was concerned that I am gonna get easily drunk hahahaha (come on I am from Eastern Europe - I can handle a lot lol). And a security guy was laughing at me while checking my bag, because I was just after work, so I had bunch of random stuff in there: clothes, shoes and even apples lol. Cloakroom cost 2 pound per item, so better be sure to bring a big bag, that you could fit all of the jackets, coats or other stuff that you don't want to carry around you while dancing.

Club itself wasn't fancy or smth, but I couldn't care less. As long as they played some kpop tunes I was fine with it lol. Too bad they didn't have any tables or booths to park our asses if we were tired. And the other thing - it was soooooooooooooooooooooooo hot inside (and by hot I do not mean sexy guys like Taeyang Jaejoong wannabes walking around... well maybe just a bit lol), but yeah it was hella hot, so half of the evening we spend dancing close to air conditioner lol. By the way if you want to buy a drink at a bar, be prepared to be patient, because it's busy as hell. Most of the crowd were asians, and there were more guys than girls (so no surprise they are letting girls in before 11pm for free, otherwise the night might turn out into ''guys only'' lol... (at this point you should've noticed that I use LOL too much hahaha)). Music was mostly r&b, hip hop, and some kpop (not too much), but I was not surprised actually, because in Korea it was pretty much the same. Clubs were playing either hip hop or kpop. Overall I had a great night, dancing to the songs that reminded me of the best time of my life. At one point I had a feeling like I was back in Korea (except there were no soju (or somaek), no noraebang afterwards,

no late night (or early morning) dinner/breakfast, no koreans sleeping on the street or all over the place and no crazy exchange students to make the list ''to do'' etc lol

So yeah anyways, I would be glad to attend more of those events. Hopefully I will.
Huh having a job sucks lol. Hahahaha I need to find other job, just so I could go to Kpop nights lol :)

Maybe most of you know what 얼짱 is all about. It's a korean word which means "best face". As I mentioned before Korea is kinda obsessed with beauty. So trying to achieve an ulzzang look is pretty common especially among teenagers or young adults. This look is all about being cute and doll-alike.

It means a pale skin tone, big eyes (with a help of circle lenses), small face, cute face expressions + (in most of the cases) a lot of photoshop.

This ulzzang thing became so popular in Korea, that some of ulzzangs are in reality shows, have their own webpages (cyworld.com) with tons of followers, there even are webpages where they can rate the pictures and pick the ulzzang of the month or smth.

And here is my try to be an uljjang lol which is fail written all over it hahahahaha!

And all for you creeps out there, who like secretly creepin' at people (I know you do) here is one of the pages where you can creep at uljjangs as much as you want lol :)

Short note: I want to apologize to ALL of you (I mean, those two people who read my blog... my sis and my mom lol) I know I am the worst blogger ever. My last post was more than a year ago...
Well I have a reason for that - I am a lazyass m*t%er*uc&er I was extremely busy ㅠ.ㅠ Anyways I am back and hopefully I will be more commited from now on :)

P.s. Again, pictures were borrowed from various places on the internet most of them I guess from the website mentioned above :)

Beauty in Korea

Wanna feel beautiful in Korea? Be tall (not too tall), fair skinned (not so important for a guy), small faced, skinny and with big eyes. :) That's the most general rule to be called beautiful, pretty or in case of a guy handsome.

Being tall:

in Korea it is important, because girls want to have long legs (they emphasize this on talk shows etc.) and guys want to be taller than girls. You can see most of the girls walking in high heels all the time ( I wonder if they ever feel tired). Well talking about myself, I was kinda too tall there :D I am 1.72cm so I was taller than most of a girls and I wasn't able to wear high heels  -  I felt like a giraffe :D

Fair skin:

if you went to a shop and tried to find self tanning lotion you would probably fail. There are tons of products for whitening the skin and you can see the girls all around, trying to cover their skin as much as possible to not get tanned even if it's hot. White skin is considered to be beautiful, and it came from a centuries back, when fair skin was a sign of higher class in a society.

Small face:

I have no idea why they concider it to be beautiful, but as I mentioned in my previous post, Koreans try to cover their face with palms or lean back a bit, so their face seemed to be smaller than yours in a picture. And you can hear Koreans talking about small face all the time. Just ask them (if you have a chance) if they consider small face to be beautiful and why. Maybe you could share the ideas and explain it to me, because right now it is unrevealed mystery for my small brain :)

Being skinny:

well yeah all the world is going insane about skinnyness BUT in Korea it's even more visible. Once in a lecture our Korean profesor said  - in Korea I am not considered to be skinny, while in Europe I would be considered to be one. It made my jaw drop down. If he was not skinny enough in Korea, so I guess I was an elephant :D And in shops most of clothes are size S, few M and veeeery few L (and it's more applicable for pants or shorts, t-shits are usually the same size, and yes it is size S). Trying to find something of a bigger size could be almost mission impossible.

Big eyes:

you can see a lot of Koreans with pretty big round eyes and you might think, why would they want to have them bigger. Well to say you the truth, they might not want that anymore, because they had plastic surgery done already. There are a lot of people in Korea (both girls and guys) who underwent eyelid surgery, to open up their eyes and make it look rounder and bigger.
It is most common plastic surgery among Koreans. I don't know why they go under the knife. I do not see much difference after it, besides I find slanting eyes atractive :)

Beauty and youth is so important in Korea, I would even say it is a must if you want to be successful in your life - find a better job, better wife/husband, better everything. So don't be surprised if U see a girl on a subway, putting her makeup on or a guy stopping by a reflection of himself and putting all his "messy" hair in a right order (I have no idea how much time they spend in a morning to make their hair to look as perfect as in a magazine). Oh man! Can you tell me how you keep your hair so damn perfect?!!!!!

P.s. You migh have a different opinion about the beauty in Korea and you might say that the statements above are not true, well it's up to you. But I just got that perception after being in Korea for four months and looking from my own perspective, so I do not claim it is an undoubtable truth.
P.p.s. Discussion and (dis)agreement with an opinion of an author is highly welcomed, it shows that the grey mass in your head is still working ;)

That's all for now. As usually credits of a pictures goes to....
THEIR OWNERS!
My blog looks so much nicer thanks to all of you :*
C-ya next time :)

So what is aegyo? To keep it simple, it is a way of acting cute. It might be a different way of talking (trying to talk in high pitched voice) or making cute face expressions etc. Well it's kinda difficult to explain. Aegyo is also applicable for guys :) Well according to Koreans, aegyo is a way for a girls to get the things they want and for a guys to win a girls heart. Some examples of aegyo:

Aegyo is fun to watch in dramas or TV shows, when Korean idols are trying to show their "charms" with cute expressions or their failures doing that, but in real life it can be pretty annoying, especially girls speaking in high pitched voice... About guys... Hmm don't remember any of them acting cute (I guess I just have some memory loss because of loads of alcohol I had ...khem well I don't know the reason). The easiest way to notice aegyo is to look through the pictures you are taking with Koreans. You will notice girls puting their palms to face, or making \/ signs (the aegyo that I just mentioned is kinda lovely ^^) The other reason why Koreans put their palms next to a face and try to cover it a bit is to make it look smaller. You wonder why they want their face to look smaller? Well reality is like that: small face = beautiful face. I will talk more about the perception of beauty in Korea in my next post :)
That's all for now. And here's a little bit of aegyo for the end ;)

P.s. All credits of the pictures goes to their owners (I do not own them, I do not steal, I borrow! :D)  I hope people won't get mad because of me borrowing those pictures. I took them just for educational purposes :)

Life in dorms :)

Living in dorms of university in Korea was pretty weird, first of all because they had separate male and female floors. And you could never enter the opposite sex floor, because you would be expelled (yeah right)

Living in dorms in Korea has pros and cons. I guess the first disadvantage that U notice is a HUGE amount of rules... But what could be more fun than not following them and having an argument with our beloved "sonsaengnim"? :D Well there were notices and rules everywhere: to be quiet, not to do this and that, there were the rules even for watching TV, using fridge and toilet :D And if U did not follow the rules there was a long list of penalties.
Some samples of notices ( just a few, there were much more of them):

And our beloved one - list of penalties:

And those who lived in the dorm of Ajou in the spring of 2009 know the story of the following notice :D.

Well I tried to integrate into a society so I posted one notice of my own on the door of our room
(unfortunately someone was not so happy about it, so after a while it was gone and I was so upset about it, I loved that poster so much).

Anyways I had the other one posted  soon

In our case we had a 4 shared room. There were two girls from China and us, two lithuanians. The condition of a room was ok, not too fancy, but good enough to live :)

This is how our room looked like at the beggining of the semester, later on it got much more  a bit messy ^^.
And that's how my food looked like during the first month:

Not a very healthy way of living :D
Overall I enjoyed living in dorms and pissing coordinator off even if sometimes I felt like I was in prison ^^ The good thing about our dorm was that we were able to come back there whenever we wanted. I heard that in some dorms they do not let you in if U come back later than midnight. Then U just have to spend all night partying or sitting in front of a dorm and waiting or the time they will let U in :D
Damn it - that's why I love Korea :D A lot of things were different from everything I used to know.
